Troop Collects Food for Noblesville Weekend Meal Pack Program

For tonight’s troop meeting we went to Ivy Tech to sort out food for Noblesville Weekend Meal Pack Program and we sorted and boxed the food to make meals for kids who can’t get food over the weekends. There was soup, ravioli and Chef Boyardee, mac and cheese, oatmeal and granola bars, etc. Afterwards, Mrs. Trusty, kindergarten teacher at Hinkle Creek Elementary School, talked about kids who couldn’t eat over the weekend and that about 6 months ago we [Noblesville] were the only district in the county that DIDN’T have a weekend food program. There was a company that was giving away $1,000 [grant] to buy the food, but we missed it. We then figured out that it would cost $25,000 to feed all of the kids. But, with Cullen’s 2,300 pounds of food collected, that could feed the kids for 1 year, maybe even for the middle school. Thanks for the food, Cullen!
